A cavernous malformation is a small lesion within the brain that can ooze blood. When this happens, it can damage the surrounding brain tissue. This lesion can also irritate the brain and cause seizures.

Surgical Resection
Treatment for a cavernous malformation usually consists of surgical removal of the lesion. This surgery is delicate, where the malformation is removed from the brain. Sometimes the irritated portion of the brain around the malformation is also removed to prevent future seizures.
