Condition
Brain Aneurysms
Treatments
Surgical Clipping
Using a minimally invasive incision without shaving hair, the aneurysm is accessed directly through an open surgery. A clip is placed around the neck of the aneurysm, blocking entry of blood into the aneurysm. The clip remains in place, and the aneurysm can no longer fill with blood or rupture.
Endovascular Techniques
By accessing an artery in the groin or wrist, a small catheter is navigated using x-ray guidance up into the head and into the aneurysm. A variety of tools, including coils and stents, can be used to block the aneurysm from the inside.
Given that Dr. Arias has trained as both a neurosurgeon and a radiologist, he is one of the few surgeons in Colorado able to offer both techniques.
